The role
As the Global Director of Project Controls, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this pivotal role you will have core objectives to deliver across Project Controls in Babcock. These are to improve our control environment and fundamentally reduce risk in the business and enhance our ability to make data-driven decisions to improve delivery and mitigation of risk in our major projects.  

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for leading the Project Controls Function Globally across the business, to realise these objectives and implement and achieve our Global functional strategy across the full delivery Lifecycle. As a member of the Global Project Management Functional Leadership Team, you will play a key role in enabling our people to progress, and supporting the organisation’s needs by having the agility to align the right people to the right roles and create a centre of excellence for the tools, process’ and framework for delivering projects and programmes.
 
Working with our Sector leadership teams both in the UK and Internationally, you will develop and implement consistent capabilities to drive best practice and performance improvement. You will set and manage the Systems implementation strategy for Project Controls and guide the business within the Project Controls and Delivery functions.

 

Other Key Responsibilities include:
•    Provide visible leadership, direction and guidance for the business and the functional community, creating and gain buy in to a compelling vision and the successful adoption of new solutions
•    Ownership of the Group Project Controls Function, providing line management to discipline specific heads of
•    Act as subject matter expert for project control across the business
•    Work with Senior management and Direct Reporting Country functional representative teams to manage the development of standardised processes and ways of working for the cost discipline to ensure consistency and best practice
•    Set and manage strategic interface between project control systems and sector specific ways of working to ensure consistency and best practice maintained
•    Work with Direct Reporting Country specific senior management to roll out and imbed the application of best practice in requirements management, budgeting, planning, cost control, financial, change and benefits management

 

This role is full time with hybrid/home working arrangements. We’re flexible on location and will consider candidates throughout the whole of the UK. This role will require regular travel when necessary.

Essential experience of the Global Director of Project Controls:

•    Significant proven track record of success in a Lead Project Controls position
•    Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar major project controls environment / business and have a successful track record of Management in a senior leadership role within a complex regulated and/or safety-critical environment
•    Working knowledge of Project Controls Systems Architecture and tools
•    Project lifecycle experience from bid phase through to close out
•    Proven project management and control skills to deliver either a major project of high complexity and risk or a programme of projects of medium risk and complexity
•    Proven ability to analyse, interpret and report financial information and the ability to recognise and understand the project controls deliverables
•    Proven Experience of Conflict Management – being able to identify and addressing differences that, if unmanaged, would affect the delivery of the project
