Position Summary

Reports to the Director of Financial Initiatives & Division Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly financial reports, budget, and forecast variance explanations.
  • Responsible for timely ad-hoc financial reporting upon management request.
  • Provide financial and accounting assistance to department leaders.
  • Perform and document specialized accounting activities in accordance with GAAP, established policies and procedures, and industry standards.
  • Support audits of financial and regulatory reporting by Corporate Audit, external auditors, and government agencies.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of accounting business process changes, process improvements, testing, and impacts to internal controls across accounting teams and related systems.
  • Assist with system end-user testing and acceptance of business processes and reports.
  • Analyze new business initiatives or changes and modify existing accounting models to ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Manage cost tracking on larger, complex long-term projects.
  • Liaison with FP&A team and business to understand budget/forecast assumptions and identify/record routine and non-routing journal entries.
  • Coordinate with and supervise off-site vendor in preparation of certain monthly journal entries and variance reports.
  • Assist departments with the training of new hires on accrual journal entry preparation.
  • Review and approve submitted journal entries and obtain sufficient support for journal entries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • 5 years of related work experience with emphasis in accounting/finance.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting processes.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and work within strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • Hawaiian Airlines is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT - regulation, 49 CFR part 40) and all applicants are advised that post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing will be conducted to determine the presence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opioids, PCP (Phencyclidine), and Amphetamine prior to any offer of employment or transfer into a safety-sensitive position. Failure to submit to testing or positive indications of drug use will render the applicant ineligible for employment with Hawaiian Airlines and any employment offer will be withdrawn.
  • In addition to routine employment eligibility verification, U.S.-based airlines must gather information to validate country of citizenship and country of birth. Upon hire, you must provide documentation proving your current country of citizenship and birthplace.

Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $78,000 - $111,000.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years’ experience in auditing.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience supporting/working with accounting systems.
