Position Summary:

The Manager of Operations (MO), Baggage Planning & Support provides support to the day-of baggage operational team; including continuous engagement with partners, administrative support, and critical metric monitoring. The MO, Baggage P&S collaborates closely with partners on operational topics related to planning and continuous improvement, looking for ways to improve the process and ensure that all bags travel with the passenger. The role also, analyzes data and business processes to uncover and understand operational issues and suggest and implement solutions to improve the overall operation.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external partners
  • Coordinating with other GTAA departments and external partners to deliver baggage services
  • Lead and/or support continuous improvement initiatives and small projects to improve baggage operations, including budgeting and financial management
  • Liaise with internal and external customers to identify any shortfalls in service provisions and identify potential areas for improvement
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all GTAA policies
  • Lead the collection, validation, analysis and distribution of departmental data and reports
  • Analyze data and distribute reports to support the needs of the GTAA, carriers and 3rd party partners
  • Lead the Baggage Systems Operator (BSO) and Specialist, Baggage Operations (SBO) teams by providing coaching, guidance and development by providing relevant feedback for personal and career growth
  • Create and revise processes and contingencies that are necessary to support the baggage operation


The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.

Qualifications:


  • Post secondary degree and/or combined equivalent of education and experience
  • 3+ years of people management or leadership experience; building impactful, highly skilled and motivated teams
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, airport operations, is preferred, especially in baggage operations
  • Demonstrated experience using data and data analytics
  • Proven experience working in a customer centric environment
  • Able to obtain and retain a DA AVOP license within 90 days
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

  • Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate overall operational awareness
  • Ability to collect and analyze data from many different sources and use it to motivate change and influence others
  • Knowledge of Tableau, Power BI and proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives
