The role
As a Procurement Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play an integral role in shaping the Procurement & Supply Chain function within our Engineering & Systems Integration business stream, which is a leading platform-build and systems integrator across defence and security markets.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the Business Development and Bid teams to ensure effective supply chain strategies are considered and included in significant bids. Required to design, source and mobilise business winning supply chain solution for each bid, taking into account of capability, risk and supplier management issues and total cost.
- Assist in the production of an ‘Opportunity Analysis’ by reviewing the Business Unit’s bid pipeline to identify bids with a material supply chain element.
- Work with the Group-wide Procurement and Supply Chain network to ensure that existing Babcock supplier relationships and capability are leveraged in bid opportunities, wherever possible.
- Support the development of proposals and tenders and participate in any subsequent supply chain-related customer dialogue where appropriate.
- Provide high-quality P&SC materials, for inclusion in bids, to reflect the best functional practices in the Group.
- Identify the most appropriate supply chain to deliver the capability required to support new business opportunities.
- Participate in post-bid reviews to ensure that experience from both successful and unsuccessful bids is obtained and informs future opportunities.
This role is full time, 37-hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangement and is based at BVE, Walsall.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Procurement Manager
- Extensive experience in procurement & supply chain management
- Significant experience in a strategic procurement category management role
- Proven experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, automotive or other relevant industry
- Proven track record in the design and delivery of innovative supply chains across a variety of direct spend areas
- Strong commercial business acumen with proven wide experience of a variety of contract forms, including drafting and negotiation
Qualifications for the Procurement Manager
- MCIPS / CIPS or other commercial / contract qualification (e.g. CCM)
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
