The role
As a Draughtsperson, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role is highly rewarding with visible contributions to the defence capability of the UK, helping to keep the Royal Navy at sea and fighting fit.
Day-to-day, you’ll be supporting designers and carrying out structural analysis to implement design change on Submarine platforms:
- Production of design drawings and associated documentation in support of design projects
- 2D and 3D drawing and modelling to support spatial integration during feasibility, concept and detailed design projects and conducting on-board surveys and validation exercises
- Support the production of design, safety and other technical documentation for the implementation of engineering projects to the required standards and timescales
- Support configuration management activities
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Draughtsperson:
- Structural Draughtman experience within the mechanical or design engineering industry
- Ability to read and design engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software
- Knowledge of relevant steel/material grades
- Knowledge of welding & NDE techniques
- Knowledge of constructive manufacturing techniques
Qualifications for the Draughtsperson:
- GCSEs in English, Maths and Science (or equivalent experience)
