The role
As a Strategic Programme Procurement Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the Submarines Procurement team establishing programme requirements, designing and engaging a supply chain to meet the programme requirements, to support delivery of programme objectives through the rigorous management of contract and supplier performance with responsibility for contracts of typically c£10m value.
Day-to-day, you’ll capture specific project requirements and build into supply chain requirements against the Babcock sourcing methodology.
- Design of a supply solution to meet programme requirements and maximise performance whilst minimising risk and complexity.
- Ensuring that all relevant customer contract conditions are flowed down to goods and services suppliers.
- Maintaining interfaces with group and divisional category strategies where they impact upon programme.
- Establishing supplier management, performance monitoring and development initiatives.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard
Essential experience of the Strategic Programme Procurement Specialist:
- Previous experience of managing sourcing and tendering processes in accordance with agreed project deliverables.
- Establishing supplier management, performance monitoring and development initiatives.
- Execution of processes, and interfaces with finance, to ensure on-time payment to suppliers.
- Proactively manages elements of the make or buy process to enhance business outputs
Qualifications for the Strategic Programme Procurement Specialist:
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent – Preferred
- MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications - Preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Essential
- Computer literate – Essential
