The role
As a Compliance Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock is establishing a new “Safe to Operate” team at HMNB Clyde. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Compliance Process Specialist to join this team. “Safe to Operate” means having safe and compliant infrastructure, assets and equipment and in conjunction with appropriate processes, and suitably qualified and experienced personnel, can deliver our operations and outputs and meet the requirements of the customer.
Day to day, you’ll be working with other specialists in “Safe to Operate” team receive and review the information regarding the buildings in the Asset Management Plan (AMP).
- Develop and then undertake specific inspections of the buildings systems to determine adequacy of state against relevant good practice.
- Flag any legislative or health and safety shortfalls immediately with Babcock.
- Complete gap analysis report on findings.
- Provide a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level.
- Review and assess adequacy of maintenance, defect, performance/operability etc and together with the actual condition, assess status and whether the system/building is safe to operate
- Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and will be based at our HMNB Clyde Faslane site, near Helensburgh, with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Compliance Engineer
- Have a good understanding of rules and regulations.
- Previous experience in a compliance capacity within an industrial setting.
- Have demonstratable breadth and depth knowledge of one or more subject areas in a highly regulated high hazard workplace.
- Risk management experience preferably IOSH Risk management/IOSH Managing Safely qualified or willing to work towards.
Qualifications for the Compliance Engineer
- HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Fire Management)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
