Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a contract Junior Mechanical Foreman for our client in McDonough GA. This is an opportunity to work with a growing company.
DescriptionThe Junior Mechanical Foreman’s role will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the contractor’s / sub-contractors engaged in construction activities; and planning, coordinating, assisting in cost control and ensuring a safe work environment. This position requires skills with problem solving, decision-making, planning, field estimating, safety oversight, scheduling, cost control, and human relations. The candidate for this position must be committed to maintaining and keeping the project sufficiently profitable to meet the company’s anticipated project goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Understanding the project: Understanding the scope of work, project plans, and specifications
- Enforcing safety: Ensuring that all safety regulations are enforced and that employees are instructed on proper safety procedures and rectifies job site hazards immediately
- Communicating: Communicating with management, personnel, and subcontractors to ensure that work meets quality expectations and deadlines
- Monitoring progress: Monitoring project progress in relation to schedules, costs, daily work, and any environmental deviation/concerns
- Track daily head counts and cost.
- Preparing work orders: Preparing work orders and determining resources needed to complete tasks while maximizing the utilization of all on-site personnel
- Assigning work: Prioritizing, scheduling, and assigning work to General Contractors and Sub-contractors and their crews
- Reviewing estimates: Reviewing initial and final cost estimates for completeness and appropriateness
- Assisting with requisitions: Reviews for authorization requisitions for materials, tools, and equipment
- Providing feedback: Offering feedback during and at completion of the job
- Oversees the daily activities at work site, including scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress reporting.
- Develops relationships with key internal/external stakeholders to identify emerging needs.
- Assist in resolving disputes and arranges necessary changes to establish resolution.
- Supervises General Contractors and their respective Sub-contractors for compliance, performance, effectiveness, quality and deadline expectations
- Route RFI through the system for site changes to the Engineers and Equipment Manufacturers.
- Assist with managing Change Orders before finial acceptance by the Project Management team.
- Track scope according to the schedule and assure the GC is on schedule as planned.
- Work with the QA/QC department to ensure the General Contractor and Sub-contractors are complying.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a science-related field preferred but not required
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in oil and gas or processing industries including a proactive attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, and environmentally responsible operations
- General knowledge of recognized and generally accepted good mechanical engineering practice regulations and codes
- General knowledge of root cause failure analysis techniques, inspection techniques (x-ray, NDT, etc.), corrosion, cathodic protection, etc.
- Excellent analytical and computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Possess valid identification to work in the United States.
