Responsibilities
Main Purpose of Job:
To support the Technical Manager in all aspects of the Technical function of the site, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Product Development across the business.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
To support the adherence to customer's requirements, for the products within the grouping assigned;
- Enquiry and contract review to determine capability to supply.
- Preparation of manufacturing routes for quotation (draft) and production (detailed) purposes.
- Liaison with customers to resolve process and specification issues before order acceptance.
- Define and control metallurgical/engineering requirements on material and subcontract purchase orders.
- Creation and maintenance of relevant process data card and program (where applicable).
- Define, launch and monitor sample and development products in support of customer orders and Product/process development.
- To prepare weekly/monthly reports and routine data and participate in management and other meetings as required.
- To maintain an appropriate degree of internal and external contact and liaison to administer technical development, issue resolution and improvement programmes.
To provide Technical input and support for the processing of products within the grouping assigned, to promote the safe, compliant and economical production of those products.
- Respond to all HSE or Quality related instances in accordance with the company’s procedures to protect the customer (including internal) and our employees.
- Lead the resolution actions for control and disposition of non-conforming product in accordance with the company’s procedures
- Investigation of product non-conformance in conjunction with the Quality and Manufacturing teams.
- Monitor processes to determine, maintain and improve capability of the processes within the area assigned.
- To monitor performance against key quality metrics and to drive CI initiatives within the area assigned.
- Actively pursue cost reduction opportunities through refinement of methods and increased process capability within the area assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge
- Experience in a hot working environment (such as forging)
- Experience in the application of statistical, root cause and problem-solving tools and techniques (such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa, 6 Sigma)
- A good understanding in the requirements of maintaining AS1900 approvals and similar
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, specifications and their interpretation

- Ability to engage with and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams on product and process improvements.
- Have an assertive approach to logical and analytical challenges.
- Original thinker with the ability to identify positive and creative solutions.
- Ability to adopt a controlling role when necessary.
- Capable of writing detailed metallurgical reports.
- Customer focused (both internal and external).
Experience
Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment desirable
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in a metallurgical or engineering with materials with materials discipline
