Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking an Accountant I in Lynnwood, WA . Job Summary: The Accountant I performs a variety of routine to moderately difficult accounting functions, including preparing financial statements for month end closing, analyzing and communicating reserve balances, reconciling accounts, and providing direction for subsidiary ledger accounting transactions. This position is eligible for our Crane Flex Hybrid schedule which allows for the option of up to 2 days/week of work-from-home. Duties & Responsibilities: Prepare month end journal entries and monthly statistical account inputs Administer Capital Expense Request (CER) process including attending kick-off meetings, helping requestors prepares CERs, reviewing submissions, and sending CERs to Controller for review Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules, such as balance sheets and income statements; Analyze statements to provide information to internal or parent company staff; Reconcile discrepancies and analyze variances Maintain and update mainframe computer and spreadsheet programs in preparation for month end closing; Verify effectiveness and accuracy of systems and programs and make changes as necessary Assist in developing and maintaining appropriate Financial Closing policies, narratives and procedures for GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley compliance Analyze reserve balances, such as Workers' Compensation or warranty reserves; Communicate results and findings with external auditors as needed Reconcile balance sheet, cash and bank accounts; Prepare records for audit Work with subsidiary ledgers; Assist other accounting staff to troubleshoot problems and improve processes Process journal entries, including system generated and automated spreadsheet entries Ensure compliance of state and local tax requirements Any other task assigned by supervisor or management Analyze internal processes; Identify and implement improvements to reduce closing cycle time and create other efficiencies Administer the Purchasing Card (PCard) System Minimum Qualifications: Experience : 6 months -2 years of accounting experience, including financial statement preparation and general ledger accounting and a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business 0 years experience with an Accounting degree Knowledge : Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial statement preparation and of computerized accounting programs and spreadsheet applications Knowledge of state and local tax rules and regulations Skills/Abilities : Ability to maintain accurate records, analyze and reconcile accounts, and troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines, organize and analyze information, detect and correct errors and to prepare journal entries Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals Ability to express self orally and in writing to prepare comprehensive analyses, recommendations and reports Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Education/Certification : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with ERP systems, in particular Oracle Familiarity with Hyperion HFM Employment Eligibility Requirement: This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered.
