Operating as a regional airline in the United States, Air Wisconsin Airlines performs flying services for American Airlines as American Eagle throughout the Midwest and East Coast, operating CRJ-200 regional jets. Our exceptional team is dedicated to making our travelers' experiences safe and pleasant.
With general direction from the Director of Accounting and Controller, responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Ensures accurate and timely financial statements. Participates in and implements the monthly financial close, including account analysis, reconciliation, and monthly variance analysis. Participates in annual or quarterly reporting to outside agencies on an as needed basis to ensure timely and accurate filing of all reporting obligations. Supervises staff of accountants, to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Job Functions:
- Promotes and fosters a safe and secure operating environment.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining Company’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and internal control.
- Prepares and consolidates financial statements in a timely manner to systematically record and present data.
- Prepares and/or reviews journal entries and account analysis for general ledger account accuracy.
- Prepares analysis and explanations of variances on a monthly or quarterly basis as needed and participates in the review of such analysis.
- Assists as needed, in the preparation of the annual 10K, quarterly 10Q reports, and annual audit.
- Assists and researches the accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions.
- Obtains and maintains understanding of the financial reporting, general ledger, and fixed asset structures.
- Ensures an accurate and timely monthly and year end close and complies DOT financial statements.
- Assists, plans, and adapts to changes in guidelines, non-routine reporting transactions and changes in accounting systems.
- Accountable for general accounting budget and maintaining costs within those budgets.
- Performs Business Continuity Team Leader role for general accounting business unit, ensuring plan is viable, inclusive, and current.
- Assists with special projects and workflow process improvements.
Required Competencies:
- Judgment and initiative needed to set detailed schedules and deadlines for self and subordinates, review, and correct subordinates’ work as necessary and implement new policies and procedures to improve efficiency of accounting systems.
- High level of understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- High degree of professionalism and ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
Education & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of 6 years accounting or related experience
- General knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems
- Experience with financial analysis
- Strong computer skills including Infinium, Showcase, PMI, Excel and Word
Preferred:
- Three years supervisory experience
- Experience with internal controls
- CPA license
