Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for an Assembler I - Contractor at our West Caldwell, NJ site. Job Summary: The Assembler works under supervision performing assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. Essential Duties / Responsibilities: Assemble intricate and expansive products with a large number of close fitting components which require considerable fitting, aligning and adjusting to very close tolerances. Perform all operations necessary for the completion of assembly of product. Perform braze and solder operations including preliminary sequences such as, but not limited to, cut and strip wires, application of stop-off, machine set-up. Perform stack load verification of assembled and partially assembled pumps. Mix paint, lacquer, enamel, etc., to required consistency and apply as specified. Advise supervision of any measuring equipment in need of calibration and remove the equipment to make available for calibration as required. Must possess common hand tools necessary to perform job. Perform minor deburr work as required. Clean and move parts as necessary. Pass an annual eye exam. Responsible for product verification and process control including using necessary measuring devices. Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes. Rotate to different work stations within the cell. Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell. Document all non-conformances through specified data collection procedures. Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell. Complete all required paperwork. Insure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement. Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required. Complete all required documentation including but not limited to operator inspection records, job routers, NCR’s, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets. Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor. Utilize computer to access various databases. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma; Must have completed Assembler Trainee occupation. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, test procedures, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions; Adequate mechanical aptitude. Must have basic reading and writing skills. Requires basic math skills to make necessary calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and percentages. Physical Demands Requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching; Requires lifting parts, fixtures, and containers up to 50 pounds up to a height of 3 feet; Must be able to work with assorted hand tools in close quarters and awkward positions with firm grip; Must be able to operate manual arbor press with pulling force up to 200 pounds; Requires lifting parts and fixtures weighing up to 70 pounds and carry load 3 feet.
