The role
As a Mechanical and Electrical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock International maintains the airfield support contract for the aviation requirements at RAF Northolt. The timely servicing and rectification of any occurring faults are an important part of the role, working in a team whose job it is to keep both military and civilian assets supplied with the right ground support equipment at the right time. The right candidate for this position will enable the smooth functioning of RAF Northolt, in accordance with RAF and Company safety standards, practices and procedures.
Day to day, you’ll look after the ground support equipment, as well as:
- Carrying out general tasks in support of the aircraft
- Carrying out the servicing and full maintenance of equipment
- Refuelling and maintenance activities in support of the aircraft
- Full management of serviceable equipment and lighting
This role is full time and based on site at RAF Northolt.
Experience of the Mechanical and Electrical Technician
- Skilled in the use of all tools associated with mechanical maintenance
- An analytical mind, able to diagnose and rectify faults
- The ability to follow work and maintenance instructions to a high standard
- Performance driven individual who demonstrates initiative and adaptability
- Good organisational skills; ability to prioritise
- Passionate about creating a great People Experience and enabling a diverse and high performing culture
Qualifications for the Mechanical and Electrical Technician
- Trained Electro / Mechanical Technician to at least City and Guild 381/382/383 qualifications in Heavy Vehicle / Plant Equipment or equivalent, or timed served
- Normal colour perception graded as CP2 (needed to work on an airfield) - can be obtained at an opticians
- Full Manual UK driving licence
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
