As a Safety Officer- Wildlife , you support the Wildlife Supervisor in managing wildlife activities at airports to ensure aviation safety. Assist in conducting wildlife surveillances, implementing mitigation strategies, and contributing to the overall wildlife management program.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting regular wildlife surveillances at airports to monitor wildlife activity and identify potential hazards.
- Participate in the implementation of wildlife deterrent techniques, habitat management initiatives, and other mitigation measures to reduce wildlife risks.
- Conduct regular wildlife hazard assessments at airports, identifying potential risks and developing appropriate management strategies.
- Support the implementation of wildlife management plans in compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Participate in the conduct of regular off and on-airport wildlife surveys and monitoring activities to assess wildlife populations and behavior patterns.
- Collect and record wildlife observations, incidents, and mitigation activities for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Conduct research and development to stay informed about the latest advancements in wildlife management techniques and technologies
- Provide assistance to airport staff and stakeholders in addressing immediate wildlife hazards and safety concerns.
- Attend training programs and workshops on wildlife hazard management, safety protocols, and wildlife control techniques.
- Support in wildlife strike investigations, collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and recommend preventive measures.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of wildlife management equipment, such as bird deterrent devices and wildlife control tools.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of wildlife activities, incidents, and mitigation actions, and contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation.
- Prepare and present necessary wildlife reports covering airport surveillances and other wildlife management activities.
- Collaborate with other airlines to collectively mitigate wildlife hazards and enhance aviation safety, leveraging initiatives such as ACAP and others.
- Assist the Wildlife Supervisor in investigating wildlife-related incidents/accidents.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Wildlife Supervisor, Director of Safety, or VP-SQS.
Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, biology, ecology, or any related field.
- Must be willing to work in outdoor environments and travel to different airport locations as required.
- Preferably with 1 year working experience in the aviation industry.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written and tech-savvy
- Basic skills in Microsoft office applications
