Mechanical Engineering Technician (Survey)
About the role
Reporting to the Survey Team Leader, The Mechanical Engineering Technician (Survey) will conduct surveys, tests, and inspections to assess system compliance, integrity, and performance. They examine ship structures, coatings, materials, and components to maintain accurate records and identify potential issues. This role is part of a skilled Inspection team with opportunities for career development in diverse work environments.
Key responsibilities will include:
Conduct Testing and Analysis: Perform or assist in standard quantitative and qualitative non-destructive testing and analysis to verify process conditions, including periodic testing of structures and coatings, condition surveys, and testing for corrosion and defects. Produce detailed survey reports with recommendations.
Quality Control: Carry out Non-Destructive Testing as part of a quality control and verification program, including thickness measurement, weld testing, pressure testing, dye penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, and ultrasonic testing.
Client Communication: Liaise with clients, providing clear and concise results and information as required.
Report Generation: Evaluate results and produce clear reports that detail the inspection findings within the parameters of applicable specifications and procedures.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Assist in the preparation of Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and complete quality assurance and quality control documentation. Highlight and address quality or compliance issues as they arise and ensure correct application of procedures, codes, and standards in engineering and survey activities.
About you
You have a vocational qualification or certificate, setting the foundation for a promising career. You're experienced in the survey game, navigating the delivery environment with ease and gaining valuable experience in international standards and customer specifications.
In the digital realm, you're a wizard with Microsoft Office applications, effortlessly using Outlook, Excel, and Word. Your communication skills are top-notch, both in writing and spoken word. A positive attitude and strong work ethic are your trademarks, and you're always on the lookout for ways to make things better, embracing continuous improvement activities.
What sets you apart is your ability to take the lead and prioritize tasks using your initiative. Whether it's flying solo or collaborating within a diverse team, you thrive in any work environment.
