The role
As a Welder, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a team who refurbish and repair the British Army’s fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Day to day, you’ll work on Land Rovers, heavy trucks, protective mobility fleet such as ridgebacks and wolf hounds. You’ll inspect and assess equipment for welding requirements as a lot of work is on corrosion due to the age of vehicles, prepare equipment for welding by grinding, sanding and blasting and use various welding techniques to repair the damage.
- Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and other approved technical publications
- Perform weld tasks to the defined standards in line with skills and competency
- Ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department or section Supervisor
- Completion of task, recording sheets, reports to current standards
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Bovington.
Essential experience of the Welder:
Fabricator and coded welding experience is desirable however we value difference, and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you have a minimum Level 3-NQV in welding and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
Qualifications for the Welder:
- NVQ Level 3 in welding any area

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
