Job Summary

Our Assistant Manager Station Services invest in the future of Southwest’s People by serving as a Leader and champion of their Teams throughout the Oakland (OAK) station. This role is responsible for overseeing performance research, keeping a record of communication and compliance, developing personnel communication, and enabling efficiencies in all these areas. The Assistant Manager Station Services is a strong communicator that has a passion for People Leadership and continuous improvement, where they’ll have the opportunity to drive their own career with Heart and the future of Southwest.
A role that includes working assigned shifts. Shifts can include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
- Provides friendly service to and maintains positive relationships with all internal and external Customers
- Cultivates, supports, and promotes an organizational culture that affords for high performance, high morale, integrity, and Teamwork
- Participates in organizational processes/initiatives, i.e., performance management, interviewing, budgeting, training, etc.
- Recruits, develops, and retains individuals with skills, attitude, and experience necessary to enable the organization to meet commitments
- Develops and maintains collaboration with SWA U to ensure timely, complete, and accurate training for all Station Employees
- Evaluates and ensures Team member performance and business knowledge meets established expectations
- Serves as a trusted resource to assist Leadership, Employees, and other departments in understanding Station Services purpose, current initiative workload, and methodology for project/initiative delivery
- Responsible for delivering and ensuring appropriate, proactive, and effective, communication is taking place with between the Station Services Office and all levels of the organization including internal and external Customers and applicable vendor/contract services
- Recognizes Team member achievements and ensure appropriate and effective coaching/accountability is delivered to address performance shortcomings
- Responsible for facilitating and leading cross- departmental coordination to support planning decisions, foster innovation, align routine activities, and drive joint solutions
- Leads cross- functional Teams to deliver projects and services on time, within budget, providing expected results/services
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with company Safety and Security program
- Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts to establish a comprehensive understanding and to distinguish user/Customer requests from the underlying true needs
- Responsible for strategic and tactical planning to ensure the Station Services Office continues to meet the operation’s needs. Identify functional work area risks, issues, and scope ensuring appropriate level of priority, visibility, escalation, and mitigation
- Serves as the primary resource for all Labor related fact findings, hearings, terminations, etc.
- Executes strategies and processes to improve performance and the value of projects and services provided
- Analyzes Station Services performance, business process, Customer insights, and future needs to clarify key challenges, diagnose root cause, and recognize performance improvement opportunities
- Habitually serves as a change advocate by demonstrating behaviors that support new direction and new tool/process integration
- Leads the resolution of Team and individual issues, making appropriate decisions
- May perform SIDA signatory responsibilities as assigned
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of Station operations, Company Leave of Absence programs, and Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Skilled with Quickbase and Microsoft Excel, including macros and pivot tables, and Kronos
- Ability to identify problems using various techniques to analyze and weigh alternative solutions
- Ability to visualize, articulate, and condense initiatives, problems, and concepts, into concise, easily understood updates and/or presentations
- Ability to build relationships and influence all levels within the organization
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels within the organization
- Ability to organize and balance multiple concurrent initiatives/assignments while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, and timely delivery
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Fully functioning broad knowledge in:
- Airline and Station operations
- Company policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Quickbase, and Kronos
Licensing/Certification
- Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge and meet all local airport requirements
- Must comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
Physical Abilities
- Ability to move/transport 25 lbs on an occasional basis (under 50%)
- Ability to perform work duties from a limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and extended hours as needed
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
- Air travel with overnight stays may be required.
Pay & Benefits: Competitive market salary from $92,950 per year to $103,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
