Your mission:
In the frame of a new collaborative project on "Engineering of tailored secondary oxide raw materials for sustainable solar heat absorber and storage media´", the department of structural and functional ceramics is aiming at novel and sustainable thermal energy absorptance and storage materials to be utilized in concentrating solar power (CSP) plants.
The aim of the work is to evaluate engineered, artificial mineral products obtained from targeted smelting processes of secondary resources. After understanding the process related material properties (e.g. phase formation, microstructure), subsequent processes to form ceramics with enhanced CSP application related functional properties shall be developed.
Your tasks:
- thermal analysis of engineered mineral products (phase transformations, melting temperature, possible redox reactions)
- manufacturing of ceramic test specimens and particles from selected minerals
- the optimization of sintering processes (e.g. atmosphere(inert/reducing), sintering temperature, heating rate) considering the resulting phase components
- correlation of material and functional properties with manufacturing parameters
Your qualifications:
- completed bachelor's and master's studies in chemistry, materials science, ceramics/glass or comparable disciplines
- laboratory experience and manual skills
- knowledge in instrumental analytics (microscopy, thermo analysis, etc.)
- structured, creative and independent way of working
Your benefits:
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (f/m/x).
