We're looking for a Portfolio Support Officer as part of Virgin Atlantic's Delivery function. Working closely with the Enterprise Delivery Lead and portfolio delivery teams to provide high quality support within a portfolio and programme environment.
This role is accountable to the Programme Manager/Snr Project Manager/Project Manager in a matrix structure for the provision of support services including preparation, build and maintenance of the programme plans as well as support to workstream project managers where required to ensure the successful delivery of the programme within the set objectives. The role ensures the programme adheres to Enterprise Portfolio governance standards.
The Portfolio Support Officer will also work with their peers and, with the direction of the Enterprise Delivery Lead & Portfolio Lead will contribute to the relentless improvement of governance standards in project and programme delivery
Day to day
Some of your key responsibilities as our Portfolio Support Officer will be:
- Ensuring governance standards are implemented consistently across the programme, including tracking, monitoring and updating the status of programme deliverables
- Reviewing and tracking of finances, business cases, change requests, progress, risks, issues and dependencies across the programme
- Working with the subject matter authorities and work stream project managers to build the programme and individual project plans to support the timely delivery of the programme.
- Working with the Programme manager to update and coordinate the programme & milestone plan seeking contributions from Workstream Leads and Project Managers
- Supporting developing and generating Governance board papers including consolidating material from status reports
About you
In addition to the above, we are looking for our successful candidate to demonstrate the following:
- Ideally holds a basic project management qualification (Prince2, APMP)
- Strong financial acumen (some basic finance qualifications beneficial)
- Experience of working in a project environment (e.g.as a Work-stream lead or SME)
- Strong planning and organisation skills
- Sound knowledge of Excel, Power-point and MS Project
- Knowledge of Azure Dev Ops & MS Teams advantageous
