Thales Design Center Singapore is seeking a Strategic Designer to join us! This is for a 1-year contract, with possibility of extension.
Overview
Innovation and Strategic Design have taken an even more important role in Thales in the last decade. The Group intends to achieve unprecedented quality in our product, superior performance and ultimately customer and user satisfaction. A central piece of this evolution is the deployment of Design Centers throughout the world to nurture disruptive user-centered innovation and encourage strategic initiatives inspired by design practices.
The Design Centre Singapore (previously operating under the Innovation Hub) was founded in 2014 to engage customers in collaborative design, making use of Design thinking and user-centric innovation. We explore unknown innovation territories with customer end-users and partners, developing new concepts and business strategies grounded in strong value propositions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Design Strategy & Research
- Future visioning and strategy development: Draw insights from research and market analysis to drive future visioning and scenarios. Includes internal research on Thales’ strengths, weaknesses, differentiators
- design and implement quantitative and qualitative research and contextual inquiries to understand user behavior, pain points, needs and wants
- Make use of your creative synthesis and storytelling skills to contribute to defining the design strategy
- Produce personas, journey maps, user stories, infographics, Value proposition mapping etc.
Collaborative design/innovation
- Make use of the most appropriate Design thinking techniques relevant to the objectives and scope of each session
- Define the activities for co-creation sessions, and facilitate such sessions where needed
- Contribute ideas in design thinking workshops, and leverage visualizations to bring scenarios to life
- Design, test, and refine ideas iteratively
- Work with the Digital Factory team to converge on the concepts being developed/implemented
User-centric mindset and Design Thinking
- Support DC Leader to evangelise User-centric mindset and DT, both internally and externally
*Be a Strategic Design coach to a new team for a 6 month period
Requirements:
- You have at least 5 years of experience in Design-driven Innovation or Human-Centered Design.
- Your skillset spans across multiple dimensions: human-centered design, UX Design, Creative Facilitation, Industrial Design, Graphics/Visual Design, Engineering, Strategy & Marketing.
- You are comfortable with Group Facilitation & Coaching, and thrive in a service-oriented environment.
- You have effective communication skills
- You have experience with the design thinking methodology and agile experimentation approach.
- You care about user needs and use the empathy to create engaging products and services for them.
- You are fluent in French (due to the nature of the projects undertaken)
- You are comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment
- Frequent travel and extended stay outside Singapore is to be expected.
