As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell in Torrance, CA, you'll lead in designing, testing, installing, and maintaining large-scale electronic equipment for manufacturing or power applications. Your role involves using computer-assisted engineering and design software, applying principles of electrical and systems engineering, and conducting hands-on troubleshooting of systems or circuit cards. You'll support various project phases, generate white papers for investigations and recommendations, and contribute to parts obsolescence and upgrade activities. Your expertise in MATLAB, PSIM, or PSPICE will be essential for circuit modeling.
The salary for this position is ($127,000 - $160,000). The
actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including
experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
KEY RESPONSIBILTITIES:
- Designs,
tests, installs, and maintains large-scale electronic equipment or
machinery for use in manufacturing or power generation or transmission
- May
use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to
perform assignments
- Applies
principles and techniques of electrical and systems engineering to
accomplish goals
- Familiar
with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures such as
systems specification to DOORs to project flowdown and allocation of
requirements, and related systems specification knowledge
- Hands-on
troubleshooting of systems or circuit cards
- Relies
on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Performs a
variety of complicated tasks:
- Supports
electrical circuit design team and systems engineering functions for
Electric Drive Systems department in Torrance, California
- Functions
may leverage knowledge of electrical circuit design, systems requirement
traceability, systems simulation, coordinating system connectors, board
layout coordination, system interface design, running circuit simulations
and analysis using tools such as MATLab, PSIM, or PSPICE
- Supports
multiple related subproject phases, hands-on troubleshooting and
investigation of customer returns for fielded units
- Generates
white papers to document investigations with comprehensive root cause
analysis, making recommendations for corrective actions, and documenting
test results and findings
- Supports
Phase 6 parts obsolescence and upgrade activities, leveraging knowledge of
obsolescence parts replacement, identification of substitute parts, and
making related board level drawing changes
- Performs
MATLAB or PSPICE or similar circuit modeling

YOU MUST HAVE
- BS
EE or systems engineering or control systems or computer engineering, or a
similar engineering degree
- Minimum
6 years Systems/Electrical Engineering experience with orientation towards
electro-mechanical aircraft systems design

to produce white papers to document findings, and results of trade studies
- Experience
presenting issues and solutions via PowerPoint charts
- Knowledge
of Power Electronics (motor controllers, actuators, inverters or high-power
generation systems) highly desired
- Knowledge in multiple key areas listed is highly desired: AC generator, arc fault detector, AC-DC converter, DC-AC converter, DC-DC converter, DC generator, electric drive, electric motor, electric power, aircraft electrical power system architecture, electrical distribution system,electric taxi, electrical generator, inverter, auto-transformer rectifier units (ATRU), controlled rectifier units (CRU),Li-ion battery, matrix converter, More Electric Aircraft, motor controller, power distribution, switching behavior, silicon carbide, solid state power controller, SSPC, starter generator, modeling of electromagnetic machines, power management, power electronic convertors, actuator controllers
- Masters
degree highly desired, but can be met with more years of experience
- Familiar
with Circuit Schematic and drawing release process a plus
- Familiar
with Lab Test equipment such as scopes, probes, meters
- Experience
with MATLAB or Mentor Graphics or PSIM systems modeling tools
- Experience
with production and research grade hardware
- Able
to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Knowledge
of systems engineering best practices, systems integration, verification
of requirements, and validation of system functionality necessary
- Experience
with aircraft motor controllers and actuators systems design is a plus
- Using
systems EE modeling tools such as MATLAB, PSPICE or PSIM
- Exposure
to peer reviews, team meetings, program design reviews, and phase gate
activities
- Experience
evaluating and troubleshooting circuit cards and systems to the component
level
- Familiar
with aircraft and aerospace testing standards, such as DO-178B/C, DO-160
