Job Description:
The Sheet Metal Technician - Assembly is responsible for the buildup of components through combinations of mechanical, chemical or other means into completed assemblies meeting dimensional, physical, electrical and optical requirements.
Manufacturing Detailed Parts
Performing sheet metal assembly operations that include a variety of complex parts, details, and assemblies
Interpret drawings of completed parts and assemblies to develop tooling, assembly requirements and sequences to achieve the final product.
Deburring and preparing raw materials for processing prior to forming
Use of chemical compounds as specified in drawings, production orders or other documents to bond, insulate, protect and coat components / assemblies
Layout, fabricate, assemble, install and rework a wide variety of semi-complicated parts and assemblies for experimental, production, and prototype assemblies
Construct simple checking and holding fixtures and make simple templates and form blocks
Assemble semi-complicated assemblies, perform riveting and close tolerance drilling and reaming
Operate and use hand tools as required
Maintaining Records/Reports & Staying on Schedule
Education:
Experience:
3 years’ experience working in the assembly of metal components in an aerospace setting
Experience using tools such as a bandsaw, sheet metal brake (manual + NC), punches, shear, sander, grinder
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
Installing and removing rivets
Extensive knowledge of fasteners and hardware; their selection, requirements, properties and use
Excellent time management skills meet approaching deadlines
Multitasking’s skills and able to prioritize
Independent and the ability to work under broad supervision
Customer oriented
Flexible and able to adapt to a fast paced environment
Exemplary problem-solving skills
Highly motivated self-starter
Must be able to legally work in Canada
