Job Description:

The VP Sales supports our Purpose by leading all of the business sales functions. This includes direct selling, channel strategy and B2B sales, sales operations, planning, and performance – all with the goal of increasing market share and driving revenue to the B2B travel space. This Leader champions a large, growing Team, and they’ll partner cross-functionally within Southwest to meet many shared objectives and be a strong executive presence to internal and external partners. The VP Sales is excited to lead the Southwest Business Team and to help pilot the future of Southwest Airlines.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing the Company strategy and vision for growing Southwest Airlines’ share of business travelers
- Accountable for meeting or exceeding the Company’s sales goals as part of its annual plan
- Responsible for setting sales targets for the sales team that will ultimately drive the desired performance
- Lead development and design of Business travel initiatives including defining objectives, imploring research methods, and designing analysis specifications
- Lead ongoing development of Business Customer insights that drive performance
- Define compelling initiatives that drive growth, are strategically aligned, and are measurable
- Keep abreast of related industry and technological trends and ensure current and future success by remaining competitive in key areas
- Lead functional teams within the Department to drive and execute the Company’s strategic plan
- Collaborate closely with other Leaders and their Teams to develop aligned plans and strategies
- Work with Officers across the Company to align investments to influence business performance; key relationships include those in Network Planning, Marketing, and Revenue Management
- Communicate effectively to align expectations, inspire action, and spread a vision across the Organization
- Responsible for ensuring that the Department adheres to all SWA guidelines and practices
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Required: Bachelor's Degree
Experience
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple teams or function through subordinate Leaders
- Advanced level Business Acumen in functional are with understanding of broad business impacts
- Expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
- Sales, Commercial functions, or a related field with increasing levels of responsibility
- Commercial strategy, planning, and execution
- Change management
- Airline industry
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Some travel required
